Important question for new puppy and dog owners who haven’t yet taught their dog the essential obedience skills necessary to raise a well-behaved family dog…
For getting your dog to listen to you and obey your obedience commands (like “Come!” and “Sit!”) the very first time you say them..
Would you finally feel confident enough to train your dog?
Here’s why anything short of an enthusiastic *head nod* is costing you big time…
You say “COME!” when he’s outside in the backyard (or at the dog park…)
or…
You say “SIT!” before crossing a busy road (or when meeting a stranger…)
or…
You say “GIVE!” when your dog has something in his or her mouth
(like a toy, sock or rock…)
Then I have some bad news for you.
Which means your dog choose to ignore you and only responds to your verbal commands when he or she feels like it.
Unfortunately, most dog owners think this problem will go away on its own and that their dog will “magically” start listening to them when their dog gets older…
Your dog’s behaviour won’t improve on its own… You have to teach your dog what you want and what you don’t want… After all, your dog is a member of your family now…
If you’re not happy with how unresponsive your dog has become to your verbal commands.. or..
If you wish that your dog would simply “listen” to you and respect your authority… or..
If you sometimes feel embarrassed about how your dog behaves when you’re out and about or when you have guests over at your home…
Then Keep Reading…
When your dog experiences his or her “Light Bulb” moment where everything just clicks…
Imagine…
Your dog attentively listening to you and promptly obeying all of your verbal obedience commands (the very first time you say them…)
You’re finally able to go explore the world with your dog… Without ever having to worry about what other people might think or say behind your back…
And…
You’ve finally gained the confidence you needed to feel like you can teach your dog anything and have the dog you’ve always dreamed of… But first…
(And Why I Cringe When I Hear It)
You’ve probably been asked this a dozen of times…
By your friends, family, neighbours and anyone else you might have met during one of your neighbourhood walks around the block with your dog…
They ask it with the best of intentions…
But still… It can feel like getting punched in the gut…
Especially when you’ve tried to be a good pet parent and you’ve tried to train your dog… But no matter what you did, nothing seemed to work, and in fact, it only seemed to get worse…
So What’s The Question?
Ugh.
It makes me want to explode…
They don’t ask it maliciously…
But in my mind, there’s no question more discouraging for a dog owner than to ask them if they’ve done any training with their dog…
It’s like all the hours spent training your dog thus far has been all for nothing… Maybe you can relate?
I still remember the day I got asked this question…
It was during my dog Onyx’s first agility class… There was five other dogs in the class along with their owners, and each of us were given the task of getting our dogs comfortable with the agility equipment…
I was given the task of getting Onyx comfortable going through a tunnel…
Which I gladly accepted… Because competing in agility was one of my DREAMS… I had seen this dogs do this on YouTube and I thought it was the coolest thing in the world…
So, to get Onyx to walk through the tunnel, I had to let go of her leash and encourage her to walk through… But as soon as she realized I wasn’t holding on to her leash anymore…
This is when hell broke loose…
She ran enthusiastically from obstacle to obstacle, and from dog to dog like her name had just been called on The Price is Right…
This went on for a good 5 minutes… Which felt like an eternity…
I kept calling her name “ONYX!” and “COME!” to try to get her to come back to me…
But as soon as I got anywhere close to her, she kept running away in the opposite direction…
She was having the time of her life… I on the other hand, obviously wasn’t..
All the other dog owners had to stop what they were doing and watch me until I was finally able to chase my dog down and get a hold of her leash…
It’s an understatement that I felt HUMILIATED and like a COMPLETE FAILURE.
But this wasn’t even the worse part…
This happened THREE times during the first half of the class… And after the third time, I just couldn’t take it anymore and left…
But on my way out, one of the other dog owners who was also training his dog to do agility asked me the question.
It hit me like a ton of bricks.
Obviously, I had… But it didn’t show…
All they could see is how badly behaved Onyx was in the agility ring… And how she was ignoring all of my attempts at getting her to come back to me…
When I got home, I was sad and upset…
I thought my dog agility career was over before it started. I started thinking about all the reasons why agility might not be in the cards for Onyx and I…
Maybe I suck at training my dog?
Maybe huskies aren’t meant to do agility?
Maybe I should quit?
Then… I’m not sure what prompted these thoughts, but I started thinking about my dream and how awesome it would be to compete in dog agility with Onyx…
In my mind, I envisioned the two of us getting awarded 1st place in a competition, side by side, happy and feeling accomplished as best friends…
These thoughts are what kept me from quitting that night…
So the next day, I picked myself back up and dug up my old dusty obedience training manual and went back to training the fundamentals again…
I knew that she was running away from me because in her head, she associated coming back to me as painful (or a loss of freedom.) So to change this association, I started rewarding her constantly for staying close to me… I did this during our walks, our trips at the pet store, and basically everywhere we went together…
I also started reinforcing responses to the basic obedience commands, like “SIT!”, “DOWN!” and “GET IN!”… I drilled them so many times that they became ingrained in her mind, she learned to respond to them immediately, almost as if she was on autopilot.
Lastly, I really wanted our bond to get stronger and I really needed her to CHOOSE ME over the fun of running around the agility ring… So I worked on “PLAYTIME!” and we played tug and all sorts of games that made the training fun.
And guess what?
Everyone at the agility ring was impressed… Especially the dog owner who was questioning if I had done any training with Onyx in the past… Well, he mentioned how much more attentive Onyx was this time around.
I continued on this path and kept drilling the fundamentals on a daily basis and kept training agility… A year later, I finally achieved my dream of competing in agility and Onyx and I won our first dog agility trial!
Here’s the ribbon we won…
I can’t even describe the feeling of accomplishment I felt. I was estatic.
“We finally did it!”… I kept telling Onyx…
Maybe you too would like to someday compete in dog agility… Or maybe it’s just getting a well-trained family dog you can proudly bring with you anywhere you go… Or maybe it’s being able to teach your dog a couple of neat tricks…
If you’re reading this page, you’ve probably tried training your dog in the past…
Maybe you’ve tried watching a few YouTube videos to get you started…
Or…
Maybe you’ve even attended some local dog obedience classes, but they just didn’t *click* with you and your dog… Or the training methods didn’t work the way you had hoped for…
Or…
Maybe you’ve even *lost it* and got angry at your dog before… And felt like no matter what you tried, nothing seemed to work… And you’ve maybe even given up on trying to train your dog…
I totally get it…
Everybody would have a well-trained family dog…
Sadly, very few people do…
But it’s totally possible, if you really want to…
I’m living proof…
I wasn’t born a dog trainer and I wasn’t born into a family of dog trainers either…
I’m just a regular “Joe” who loved his dog so much that I was willing to do whatever it took to learn how to train my dog… My dream of one day competing in dog agility is what kept me going when times got tough…
The question is…
I’m sure you love your dog more than anything in the world, and you want provide your dog with the BEST life humanly possible…
You’re a good dog owner and you DESERVE to have the dog of your dreams too…
A dog that pays attention to you… That listens to your verbal commands… A dog you can be proud of bringing anywhere you go… A dog that inspires your friends and neighbours…
I’m not saying you need to dedicate your life to the study of animal training and become a Professional Dog Trainer…
Far from it…
What I’m saying is… What if for the next little while, you focused on teaching your dog the fundamental obedience skills?
How much better behaved your dog would become in the next 2… 3 or 4 weeks?
How much easier life would become if you KNEW with absolute certainty that your dog would come when you called?
How liberating it would feel to finally be able to go anywhere with your dog, and to be able to handle any situations life might throw your way…
And what if…
You looked down at your dog and just noticed a glimmer of happiness… Your dog’s tail is wagging and there’s a sense of joy and calmness coming at you from your dog’s eyes…
All of this as a result of taking a little bit of time each day to train your dog…
Wouldn’t that be worth it?
(And How To Snap Your Dog Out Of It Now…)
Do you remember?
The first day you’ve gotten your dog. Do you remember how your entire family was excited to welcome your dog into your home? And how you had BIG plans for the two of you?
Like most dog owners… You probably thought you could learn how to train your dog by yourself…
So you opened your laptop, loaded Amazon and ordered a couple of dog related books…
Maybe one book was specific to your dog’s breed… And another was about dog training…
You’ve read through them…
But now… A few months later… Those books are just sitting on the shelf, collecting dust…
And sadly… You never truly found the time to train your dog the way you had envisioned…
Sounds familiar?
If so, you’re not alone!
Most dog owners start off owning a dog with the best of intentions… But life happens and training the dog gets forgotten about…
That’s OK…
I know you’ve got A LOT on your plate.
Finding the time to train your dog is easier said than done… Especially when you’ve got a career to maintain…
Relationships to nurture… And a family to love and support…
Not to mention… What seems to be a never-ending list of house chores that keeps taking over your schedule…
What if every day, for 30 days, you set aside 15 minutes to train your dog?
That’s about the same amount of time it takes to walk your dog around the block. And what if each time you trained, you knew exactly what to do so it would be simple and you wouldn’t have to figure it all out on your own?
You’ve done some research online on how to train a dog…
In fact, you were dedicated and thought about learning everything just to make sure you didn’t make any mistakes…
But as you struggled to make sense of all the different dog training approaches and methodologies…
It all quickly became very confusing…
Positive Reinforcement = Good
Positive Punishment = Bad
But … Negative Punishment = Good ?!?
What the heck?
You don’t need to know all of the confusing terminology to be able to train your dog… Who cares what the official name of a training method is called… As long as the training works!
Right?
You don’t need to dedicate your life to the study of animal training or learn everything about dog training to train your dog… Instead, you simply need a proven step-by-step system where you can follow along with your dog and end up with a happy, well-trained family dog.
Your Dog Is Just Too “Stubborn”
And Can’t Be Trained
I remember this day like it was yesterday…
I was attending a local dog training show… And all of the dog trainers, one by one, would showcase what they had taught their dogs…
One trainer had taught her dog to jump through her arms…
Another had taught her dog to roll himself in a blanket…
This went on for a good 15 minutes and it was very entertaining…
But then… It happened… My jaw dropped…
Yes… I kid you not… A tiny little pig…
She had taught her pig all of the basic obedience commands, like “SIT”, “DOWN” and “COME!”…
And obeyed them flawlessly…
But… What was even MORE impressive…
Was the fact that she had taught her pig to do agility… Literally… She brought out miniature agility obstacles… Jumps… Weave poles… Even a tunnel…
And her pig was able to complete the entire agility course without making a single mistake…
It felt like I was in an alternate universe, where the movie Babe was reality…
Ever since that day, I realized that ANY animal can be trained…
And it completely annihilated my own false limiting belief that my dog was too stubborn to be trained… (Which is something that kept me back for months, as I blamed my dog’s lack of training to her being stubborn…)
Maybe you can relate?
If you somehow feel like your dog isn’t “smart enough”… Or that your dog is too “stubborn” to be trained… Then please, learn from my experience…
Any dog can be trained, regardless of breed, age or temperament… Even if you’ve failed in the past and haven’t gotten the results you hoped for…
Everything can change in a heartbeat as long as you follow a proven strategy… A strategy that is PROVEN to work with all kinds of animals…
(Hint: Positive Reinforcement Training works with all kinds of animals…)
You’ve heard this before…
If your dog is not listening to you… It’s because your dog is trying to “Dominate” you…
And to solve this issue… You must become the “Alpha”…
Which means…
Rolling your dog on his back… Walking through the door first… Eating your dinner first…
Physically reprimanding and scolding your dog… Being very assertive and strict…
And so on, and so forth…
What nonsense!
Let me share with you my own personal experience…
When I was in my teens, my family adopted a cute little off-white Lhasa Apso dog that we named Tobbie…
He was cute and very energetic (as most dogs are…)
But he wouldn’t listen… He would pull on the leash… Bark at anyone who dared to walk in front of our house… And he’d wait for any opportunity to sink his teethes into anything we left behind, whether it be our favorite pair of shoes or the TV remote control…
My family had NO idea how to train Tobbie… So we did like most people do, and we listened to what our relatives told us we should train him…
And you guessed it…
They told us we needed to become the “Alpha”…
So we started doing all of the silly things I mentioned above…
Scolding him whenever he barked… Yanking on the leash whenever he pulled… Shaking a can full of rocks whenever he did anything “bad”…
It didn’t work.
In fact… It made things WORSE!
When Tobbie walked into our home, he was this energetic, happy, tail-wagging dog… A few weeks after we started doing following the bad “become the Alpha” advice, he became defensive and began showing signs of aggression towards us…
He would show his teethes and growl at us anytime we came near him or his food bowl… I remember one night…
My family and I were eating at the dinner table around 5 o’clock and Tobbie started whinning and begging for some table scraps… My father grew irritated and when he went to grab Tobbie to put him in the other room…
Tobbie snapped… Growled and bit my father on his right hand… My father was bleeding and was visibly upset…
We were all sitting at the dinner table in shock of what had happened…
But looking back at it now, 20 years later, it’s painfully obvious what happened… Tobbie had associated us (his family) as a source of pain… The constant punishments and corrections took a toll on Tobbie…
His behaviour was a self-defense mechanism…
Bottom line is this… Who you choose to listen to has a HUGE impact on your dog’s well-being and the relationship you have with your dog…
It’s important that you take advice from someone who advocates
REWARD BASED TRAINING METHODS…
Where your dog will be REWARDED for making the correct choices instead of being punished for the wrong choices.
“Fido, Sit!”
“SIT!”
“Siiiiiiiit!”
This scenario is far too common with dog owners… And it usually leads to two things…Either the owner puts their dog in that position by physically pushing on their bum… Which just shows that the dog hasn’t learned anything…
Or…
Their dog *finally* sits after hearing the verbal command several times… Which prompts the owner to REWARD their dog with a delicious treat…
Sounds familiar?
The problem is the behavioural response was really *crappy*… And I use that term loosely, but it basically means the dog can respond to a verbal command whenever he or she feels like it…
After you’ve taught your dog the verbal commands (after all, dogs don’t understand English, words are simply sounds that are associated to a specific behaviour through training)…
The KEY is there needs to be a window of opportunity… Where your dog has a short amount of time to respond to the verbal command or completely misses out on the delicious treat. This is how you et a dog to respond quickly and predictably to your verbal commands…
The Good News Is…
If you’ve made it this far, you ALREADY know that following a proven training strategy is critical to getting your dog to listen to you and to obey your verbal commands… There’s no sense spending countless hours re-inventing the wheel or trying to figure it all out on your own…
More importantly…
Training your dog using a REWARD based training method will ensure that your dog is trained in an enjoyable way that naturally leads your dog becoming a friendly, tail-wagging and well-behaved family companion…
No need to remind you of that… 🙂
But maybe you didn’t know that training your dog using my step-by-step dog training system that I’m about to share with you, will give you the ability to:
That’s literally the same amount of time it takes to walk your dog around the block… You’ll still have LOTS of time to enjoy your evening activities, whether it be catching up on your favorite TV Show on Netflix or chatting with old friends on Facebook…
The “teaching elements” will be very simple and easy to grasp… Don’t worry, you won’t need to have a diploma in animal psychology to understand it all…
It’s a big statement, but it’s true… If you have something that an animal desires, you can that drive to your advantage and get the animal to do a specific behaviour in exchange… This is exactly how professional animal trainers train dogs, cats, birds, horses and even dolphins…
Did you know there’s a side-effect to training your dog with reward-based training methods? Your dog will “unconsciously” associate YOU with the pleasure of getting the rewards… This will lead to your dog constantly wagging his tail and wanting to be with you, all of the time.
Want to train your dog to weave in and out of your legs? No problem! How about jumping up in your arms? Piece of cake! It’s all about using the step-by-step dog training system you’re about to learn and tailoring it to teach your dog the behaviour you desire…
Even if you’re a new puppy or dog owner or if you’ve tried other training methods with your dog in the past…
…but they DO depend on taking a science based, step-by-step approach.
One that leverages the most proven REWARD-BASED TRAINING METHOD that gets your dog to listen to you and your obedience commands… But also helps your dog to become a happy, friendly and well-behaved family companion…
One that’s been my “secret weapon” whenever I want to show-off my dogs at the local park or at a social gatherings… Everyone is so impressed when I show them how my dog can “play chess”, or when my dog gives me a standing “high five”, or when my dog jumps in my arms… They think my dogs are geniuses!
And…
One that you’ll excitedly point back to a few weeks from now when you see the improvements in your dog’s behaviour, and response to your verbal commands…
Where you call your dog ONCE, and your dog immediately comes to you…
Where you tell your dog to “SIT!”, and your dog instantly flops down on his or her behind…
Where you say “GIVE!”, and right away your dog lets go of whatever is in his or her mouth…
And if you’re still with me, then I couldn’t be more excited to introduce you to
my signature dog training program…
That’s my dogs and I in the photo… The black & white Siberian Husky is Onyx … and the brown & white Border Collie is Chase…
When I’m not at the park playing fetch with them… I run this website (Success Dogs), an online dog training company devoted to helping dog owners from all around the world learn HOW to train their dog using force-free and REWARD-based training methods…
If you’re looking for someone to help you become the “Alpha”… or how to scold your dog… or how to yank on the leash… or how to use a shock and/or prong collar…
I do NOT train dogs with any kind of aversives, physical corrections or punishments…
Then, I’m not the right guy for you…
However, if you’re open-minded and willing to try a new, better way of training your dog… A way that not only works long-term, but also contributes to your dog’s happiness and strengthening the bond you have with your dog…
Then, keep reading…
Introducing…
The only REWARD-based online dog training system that GUARANTEES your dog will start listening to you and to obey your verbal commands… (the very first time you say them…) I’ve been helping dog owners train their dogs since 2006… And I’ve worked with hundreds of other dog owners just like you who…
The Result Is…
Teaches your dog all of the essential obedience behaviours and verbal commands using POSITIVE and FORCE-FREE training methods…
Have you ever wondered WHY your dog develops “selective hearing” and CHOOSES to ignore you when you call and when you give a verbal command?
There’s a reason!
There’s an old saying “Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day… Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime…”
That’s essentially what this module is all about… To give you the KNOWLEDGE and the TOOLS to be able to train your dog to do whatever you want…
And don’t worry…
I promise NOT to try to turn you into a Professional Dog Trainer… I know you don’t have time or the energy for that… That’s why all of the lessons inside are kept short and to the point…
Nothing will be complicated or overwhelm you, just the information you need to successfully train your dog in the comfort and privacy of your own home…
Have you ever watched a YouTube video with a dog doing INCREDIBLE tricks? Like a dog jumping through someone’s arms, walking on their hind legs, or even… doing a flip?
If you have, you’re not alone!
I do the same thing when I’m in need of a little inspiration…
But… Did you know that every one of those amazing dogs had to first be taught the fundamentals? Professional dog trainers don’t begin training their dog advanced tricks, they start off with the basics, like sit, down, stand and come…
Why?
Because these are the behaviours that will be used the most throughout a dog’s life… Think about how many times you’ve asked your dog to sit just in the last couple of days… Wouldn’t it be nice if your dog listened and obeyed the first time you asked?
In this module,
You’re going to take the 4-step training dog training method and use it to train your dog the essential obedience skills…
I’m going to show you, step-by-step, with my own dogs so you can simply follow along with your dog…
A friend of mine had a near-death experience with her dog… She was walking her dog near her home when all of a sudden, her dog’s collar broke… It was one of those cheaply made plastic collars that just snaps in together…
(Success Dogs Tip: Always use a collar with a metal clip that slides through the nylon fabric so it’s much less likely to break…)
She tried calling her dog back to her, but he wouldn’t listen and kept running away… The worse part is he crossed a road and he ended up getting hit by a car… Luckily, the driver saw her dog in the corner of his eyes and was able to slow his car enough that no major damage was done…
Just enough to scare the living bejesus out of my friend…
And that day, she learned the importance of training her dog to come on command…
There’s ONE thing that all well-trained dogs have in common…
Can you guess what it is?
Perhaps you’ve noticed… Dogs that have been trained using REWARD-based training methods have the tendency of paying attention to their owner’s body language and whereabouts… They’re always looking up at their owner in anticipation of their owner giving them a task to do…
This is done by design…
Dogs are naturally distracted by the world and they naturally want to go outside to investigate the countless smells, meet new dogs and people, and even chase some squirrels…
To counter-act this “instinct”, you have to constantly REWARD your dog for choosing you over the distractions of the world…
It’s very common… Dogs who listen well at home but as soon as they leave the house, it’s like their dog suddenly develops amnesia and forgets all of the training…
It can be SO frustrating…
But the solution is simple… All you have to do is focus on building your dog’s attention and obedience skills in different environments… Practice in your backyard… At the local park…
At the church’s parking lot… Etc…
Not only will this help get you a dog that LISTENS to you more attentively, it will also give you the freedom to be able to go ANYWHERE with your dog…
Have you ever hired a Professional Dog Trainer to help you train your dog? If you have, then you’ll agree with me that their services aren’t cheap…
In my area alone, they charge between $50 to $100 an HOUR… And I’ll admit, it’s nice to have the support and feedback from an experienced trainer at your fingertips… But those hourly lessons can quickly add up…
Typically, dog owners need weekly lessons for 4 to 8 weeks to get a really good grasp on training their dog… Which is why most group obedience classes are 8 weeks long…
So, it doesn’t take long before those personalized dog training lessons become a whopping $400 – $800 or more…
There’s also no guarantees that the dog trainer you hire will teach you REWARD-based training methods… The reality is there’s A LOT of trainers out there who still believe in the “dominance theory” and how you have to become the Alpha…
When you enroll in The Good Dog Every Day Program, not only will you get LIFETIME access to the course and the 25 step-by-step video lessons…
But you’ll also get, as a FREE BONUS, the ability to ask me ANY questions you may have about any of the lessons…
This way, you’re not left to figure it all out by yourself… If something isn’t clear to you… Or if you need more information about a specific lesson… Or if the training didn’t work out exactly as shown in one of the video lessons…
You can simply ask your question below each and every one of the videos, and myself or a member of my team will promptly assist you…
It’s like having your own personal dog training coach on speed dial. 🙂
I’ve mentioned this before… Training your dog to COME is the #1 MOST IMPORTANT skill you can ever teach your dog…
Why?
Because it can literally save your dog’s life one day…
Think about it… What would you do if your dog got loose and started running towards a busy street? Would your dog come back to you if you called?
If you’ve answered “no” or “maybe” to the question above…
Then you MUST develop your dog’s recall skills…
Every dog owner can teach their dog to have a reliable recall… Where they say “COME!” once and their dog comes running to them at lightning speed…
The sad reality? Most dog owners don’t.
But you can be one of the few who does… All it takes is a few minutes of your time each day to play the training games inside this eBook… And voilà! Like magic, you have a dog that comes reliably on command…
Did you just get a puppy?!? Awww, that’s awesome! Congratulations! Puppies are the best, they are so innocent, cute, soft and cuddly…
Perhaps you’re in the planning phase… Or maybe you’ve already gotten your puppy and feel like you’re way over your head with trying to housetrain and toilet train your puppy…
That’s why we’re including, as a FREE BONUS to this course, a copy of our HouseTraining 101 eBook…
(Hint: It’s all about setting up your puppy for SUCCESS… I’ll show you how…)
This eBook is the perfect companion to The Good Dog Every Day Program… Because it uses some of the same training methodology of REWARDING your puppy for the GOOD CHOICES he or she makes (like eliminating outside on
the grass…)
You won’t find anything in this eBook about scolding your puppy for eliminating inside your house, or worse, putting your puppy’s nose in his feces to “teach him a lesson”… These outdated and cruel training methods don’t work and just end up damaging your relationship with your puppy…
Think of your puppy as a blank canvas…
It’s up to you to decide HOW you want your puppy to grow up… And the way you CHOOSE to train your puppy will have a huge impact on how or she perceives the world…
Or…
“Is the world a dreadful place where I am punished for the mistakes I make?”
The Good Dog Every Day Program truly wouldn’t be complete without giving you “follow-along” video lessons of how you can teach your dog 5 amazing tricks…
Included as a FREE BONUS, these dog trick video lessons follows the same 4-step training method you’ll learn inside The Good Dog Every Day Program…
Not only will your dog learn new amazing skills you can show at your next picnic, you’ll also be reinforcing everything you learned in the program by practicing and teaching your dog different behaviors…
It’s as they say… Practice makes perfect…
The more often you train your dog… The easier and better you will become at it! And also, the quicker your dog will become at “figuring out” what you want…
